My name is Hermann Yannick. I am a young 19-year-old Cameroonian. Life has been very tough for me and my family since I was a teenager. I had only basketball to relieve me. I always dreamt of becoming a professional basketball player so I really worked hard for it with the help of my dad who always pushed me to bring out the best in me.
Indeed Sir, as I said above, my Passion for basketball started very early. My dad always told me ”my son, basketball is a sport for intellectuals”, so I have always been working hard both intellectually (my report cards demonstrate) and athletically to reach a level of a competitor which I did.
My dad was for me a financial engine and a source of motivation but today unfortunately he is no more. I was about to lose faith and hope in fulfilling my dream but I kept on dreaming big for my dad’s sake because I promised him I would succeed and make him proud. I believe in myself and in my talent. Fortunately for me this scholarship opportunity has fallen like an only chance for me. If you grant me this chance, I’m sure I will be able to not only continue my studies but also realize my dream of becoming a professional basketball player one day. Realizing my dream by becoming a professional player in the USA through a sports-study scholarship program would be like a life saver for me and my family.
