Are You A School Representative?

Some Paperwork

After the matching profile found, you confirm the scholarship by filling out the necessary paperwork including the I-20.

Welcome the Athlete

After the documents are submitted and the visa is issued the athlete arrives to the school.

Further Details

It may seem difficult to host an athlete from abroad, so we decided to put together a detailed instruction for you. We hope this way you will see that there is nothing difficult and YAAF will support you at each stage of the process!

1. The school should offer sport-study package scholarship.

2. The schools, on behalf of the coaches, gives us the profile of the athlete they are looking for ( age, physical appearance, knowledge/qualification, request pictures and videos if applicable). We then send over those references to our monitors in Africa. Once detected, they send back the info and we send the file to the school to review and take a decision.

3. Some paperwork. The school now use the information transferred to confirm the scholarship by filling out the necessary paperwork including the I-20. Depending on schools, some have a link that the applicants should use to apply from their country of origin and submit it online or mail it to the school. Those papers are copies of birth certificate, valid passport, the last or current academic year transcripts, English proficiency.

4. The school review the papers of the candidate and fill out the I-20 form if scholarship is approved. So far as High Schools, vocational schools and colleges are concerned, It is not a long process because the I-2 , which is the main document as invitation, can only be issued when the school have approved the scholarship. Knowing that it has a limited time to be used ( 1-2 months) after the immigration has issued it. It does not take that long to get from the Immigration after the school applied for it. It could be hard if the decision is based on the fact that the applicant did not match their requirements.

5. The school will then mail to the applicant who will attached it to his visa fees, appointment receipt, parental or guardian letter, original documents mentioned on #2 and required by the US Consulate in the country where the athlete is seeking visa. If the applicant failed to go for the interview and running out of time , the school can reapply for new I-20 with different expiration date and mail it to the applicant.

By participating in this Student Exchange program you will develop more international and intercultural diversity in your school, and multicultural ground for a better dignified educated world. Naturally YAAF will be there at each of the steps described above to guide you and help you.

Our mission at YAAF is to reduce the Education gap between disadvantage young African athlete and others in the rest of the world.
